Long-Term and One-Time Volunteer Applications are open!
Volunteer Categories

Long Term Volunteers
-
Are able to commit to volunteering for a minimum of 100 hours.
-
Volunteer on a once-a-week basis for a minimum of 4 hours per week.
-
Eligible for participation in more complex volunteer positions.
-
Will receive priority registration for HOPE Clinic events.

Short-Term Volunteers
-
Applications are approved on a project-need basis.
-
Volunteer commitment duration and schedule is based upon project requirements.
-
Volunteers are eligible to extend volunteer status upon completion of program.

Summer Only Volunteers
-
Special volunteer program that is available during summer months only.
-
Volunteers are required to complete a minimum of 80 hours over the summer months.
-
Weekly hourly requirements can vary, but typically begin at 8 hours.
-
Highly accessible for in-school volunteers (ex: high school or college)

One-Time/Event Volunteers
-
Volunteers may chose to volunteer on an event-only basis.
-
For every event performed, a one-time volunteer agreement must be signed unless previously registered.
-
Registered event volunteers are eligible to have their hours securely tracked and will receive event recruitment emails throughout the year - must be able to commit to a minimum of 5 volunteer events per year.

Majority of our volunteer opportunities are hosted at HOPE Clinic - Alief located at 13930 Bellaire Blvd, Houston, TX 77083 unless otherwise noted

Other volunteer locations may include HOPE Clinic - Beltway located at 7001 Corporate Dr Ste 120, Houston, TX 77036​

When can I volunteer?
-
For our major volunteer programs, volunteers are able to schedule their volunteer shifts during our standard operating hours of 8AM - 5 PM on weekdays only
-
Shifts are typically 4 hours long and can be scheduled from 9:00 AM -1:00 PM, or 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM
-
Some programs may offer alternative shifts (ex: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM, or 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM, or after hours) that will be noted on their descriptions

Do you have weekend or after-hour events?

Some volunteering opportunities may take place on weekends or after-hours!

Volunteer Programs
FoodRx

This program operates in conjunction with the Houston Food Bank in order to provide patients that are food insecure and/or have a high A1C level to get access to free nutritious food available for pickup at HOPE Clinic.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:
-
Enrolling patients into the Houston Food Bank systems.
-
Scheduling food deliveries for patients in need of additional accessibility assistance.
-
Participating in Food Truck Market days to help distribute food packets to patients.
Location: HOPE Clinic - Alief

Shifts: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM; Weekdays only​
​
Status: This program is looking for event/one-time volunteers to participate in our Market day events as well as long-term volunteers for patient enrollment.
Maternal Health Program

HOPE Clinic's Centering program helps expectant mothers enroll into various health education groups, programs, or systems in order to improve their overall experience and well being during pregnancy.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:

Promotion and recruitment for HOPE Clinic's centering service.
-
Distribution of maternal health supplies to mother's in need.
-
Helping patients enroll into Delfina - a partnered pregnancy tracking app.

Location: HOPE Clinic - Alief

Shifts: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM; Weekdays only​
​
Status: This program is currently accepting long-term volunteers and event/one-time volunteers for our community Baby Shower event.​​
Hypertension - CLOSED

The hypertension program at HOPE Clinic helps enroll patients into a Remote Patient Monitoring system that helps track and transmit blood pressure data to the patient's physician. The goal of this program is to improve patient outcomes with the increased availability of patient health information.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:

Previous health data collection, cleaning, and processing.
-
Reaching out to patients to ensure proper use and compliance with remote monitoring devices.

Shifts: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM; Weekdays only​

Status: This program is currently on an indefinite hiatus. An email will be sent out to all subscribers if the program reopens.
Runners and Greeters

Runners and Greeters create a warm and welcoming environment at HOPE Clinic by welcoming patients into the clinic. This volunteer program provides direct assistance to our front desk staff and serve as a friendly face that patients and staff members can count on.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:

Welcoming in patients and serving as a guide to direct the patients throughout the clinic.

Delivery of documents for HOPE Clinic staff members as assigned.
-
Assisting with minor administrative tasks as needed by our front office staff.
Location: HOPE Clinic - Alief​

Shifts: 8:00 AM - 12:00 PM or 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM; Weekdays only

Status: Program is looking for long-term volunteers at this time.
Scribes - CLOSED

HOPE Clinic is excited to welcome pre-med or pre-health individuals who are looking to gain clinical experience/hours to consider volunteering as a medical scribe. See "Scribe Program" for more info.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:

Documentation and accurate charting during patient visits.
-
Assisting physicians with assigned administrative tasks as needed.
​Disclaimer: Medical Scribes are not allowed to provide direct patient care. Scribes are present in the exam room for documentation purposes only.

Finance Volunteer - CLOSED

Our finance department is always looking for a hand or two to help combat the ever piling stack of papers/bills/invoices/etc. to process. Volunteers looking to gain practical administrative experience might be interested in applying to help out.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:

Scanning, organizing, sorting, and filing various documents as listed above.
-
Assisting with verifying vendor invoices and bills for accuracy.
-
Supporting our finance team in order to ensure our non-profit organization can continue to support the community.

Shifts: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM or 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM; Weekdays only

Hypertension and Healow Program

We are looking for volunteers to support and provide outreach and education to our patients regarding Hypertension health through use of blood pressure monitors. In addition, volunteers will advocate for the use of the Healow app in order to improve patient accessibility to vital health records.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:

Providing patient education over proper use of a blood pressure monitor
- Demonstrating the use of the Healow App
- Encouraging documentation and record keeping regarding patient conditions and symptoms

Marketing and Design Volunteer

HOPE Clinic is seeking a volunteer with a passion for creative arts and design savvy to create posters, flyers, newsletters, and/or other outreaching materials for the clinic. Individuals with skills in digital arts are highly encouraged to apply – especially those that are familiar with Canva.

Volunteer Responsibilities may include:

Creating and/or designing informational material that will be distributed inside and outside of the clinic.

Engage in activities to bring art into the clinic and promote a fun, inclusive, and joyful space for community members.
